Information about basic insured healthcare

The obligatory deductible excess for 2024 is € 385,00

When healthcare received at Rugpoli is covered by the basic insurance, we can submit the bill directly to your health insurer. You will always have to pay the obligatory deductable excess. This is mandatory for every resident of the Netherlands, aged 18 and above. The excess will start on the day you become 18 years. This means you will have to pay the first € 385 (2024) of basic insured halthcare yourself. In addition to the obligatory deductible excess you can chose to have a voluntary deductible excess, which amounts to a maximum of € 885 (2024).

You always need a referral letter

You will always need to have a referral letter for specialist healthcare if you want the costs to be covered by your healthcare insurer. When you do not have a referral letter, Rugpoli may send the bill directly to you. We might also start treatment after we have received the referral letter. You are responsible for obtaining the referal letter. Most often the referral letter is made by the GP, but a medical specialist can also do this. Referrals expire after one year.

When does the insurance bill come?

Rugpoli registers your treatment on the day you first visit one of your specialists. The treatment registration is closed following the rules of the Dutch Health authority. This happens 90 days after the first treatment or consult and 120 days after a follow up treatment or consult.
